Mushroom-like cutaneous melanoma in an old patient. Rare clinical observation.
The mushroom-like melanoma grows and spreads more quickly than other types of melanoma. It is a raised growth that sticks out from the skin (polypoid). The growth may be shaped like a mushroom with a stem or stalk (pedunculated). It is usually black, but sometimes can be red, pink or the same colour as your skin. For this type of lesion, due to the relatively large tumor thickness according to Breslow, it is advisable to follow the rules for surgical treatment in the context of two-stage surgical removal (AJCC/EJC).
