One-day dermatosurgery or surgical intervention within one day is a concept whereby various types of surgical procedures are performed under local anesthesia, without the need for hospitalization.
These include 1) mole removal, 2) lipoma removal, 3) atheroma removal, 4) basal cell carcinoma removal, 5) spinocellular carcinoma removal, and 6) cutaneous melanoma removal.
Mandatory conditions prior to performing this type of intervention are 1) testing patients for lidocaine and 2) performing a preoperative blood test.
For certain risk groups of patients, preoperative consultations with a cardiologist and/or anesthesiologist are required, as well as changes to some of the medications taken that affect blood clotting.
After the dermatosurgical procedure, it is advisable for patients to have someone accompany them and not to drive themselves.
